Life continues to move at warped speed at my house ~ I always thought that once my kids went off to college, things would slow down. No such luck! I have talked to our friends who are in the same boat and we all agree that we never thought we would be working this hard at this age. And it’s true ~ I am constantly thinking that as soon as I finish this project, then I will have some down time but it never seems to happen.
I love my job and I am thrilled for all the business that I have right now. I feel blessed and appreciated and it is all good but I do strive to slow things down …
Going into the Season of Lent, I was thinking about what I should “give up.” Considering I just completed my 56 days of no alcohol, I wasn’t convinced that I needed to give up anything else for 40 days. Would no chocolate really make an impact on my life? Hmm …
So I started a new Hooper Family tradition for Lent. We have a group family text and every day, we each have to send three things we are thankful for. Gratitude is a powerful, positive driving force for everyone. I challenge you to do this with your family ~ especially Empty Nesters. As my kids are away at college and in different states, it is fun to share what we are each thinking from miles away. It’s a way to stay connected.
Today is Day 3 of Gratitude and I am thankful for:
- My wonderful phone conversation with Lucy.
- My wonderful phone conversation with John. (Can you imagine ~ both my kids called me today! What a blessing!)

Visiting John last weekend at TCU ~ my first glass of wine in 56 days!
- I finished staging my new listing at Emmons Canyon Drive. ( I can barely walk tonight but that is okay!)
Ask your family what they are thankful for …
Enjoy this season of holiness and self discovery.
Teresa, ever since I’ve begun to follow you on FB and your blog, I’ve been given a wonderful insight into who you are and it’s pretty awesome.
Gratitude has become a huge part of my life as I see it as a necessity for happiness and it’s lovely to see that you share that belief.
Thank you for your honesty, humor and humility, all great traits.
I will continue to look forward to more, “just take a shower” publications.
Thanks so much and hugs,
Pamela

Teresa: This is beautifully written and I take to heart your words. It’s always the little “take for granted” things that often go unnoticed. Your post gave me pause…and pause is good.
This morning I am going to see my grand-daughter’s team compete in Odyssey of the mind. I’m thrilled to be attending and very grateful to have this beautiful child in my life.
Have a great day. I’m very grateful to you for sending this to me. Thank you.
