39 Days and Counting!

I am a planner, an organizer, a goal setter.  I take great pleasure in mapping things out and crossing things off my TO DO LIST.  I learned this from my mom ~ write everything down.  It makes life so much easier and does keep you on track.  Don’t think of it as a chore.  Think of it as a privilege. Think of it as a game and try to make it fun.  Share your goals with others ~ be accountable and when you aren’t successful, embrace that as well.

I look forward to writing my business plan every year because it is a time to reflect on where I have been and where I want to go. I also like to write goals for all parts of my life and I try to be specific. The idea is to set dates for completion of tasks ~ this makes it easier to measure your accomplishments.

I set a theme for my year and in 2017, it is

 Focus on Balance ….

Personal Goals:       (I won’t share all because they are personal).

  • No alcohol for 56 days – (why 56 days?  That is my age in 2017.)
  • No red meat for 56 days.
  • 56 sit ups per day.
  • Take a trip with my daughter.
  • Take a trip with my mom
  • Visit Debie and Bob.
  • Improve my diet.
  • Have my Christmas cards done by 11/26/17.

Financial Goals:

  • Update our trust and will by 6/6/17.
  • Shop rates for new insurance by 3/6/17.
  • Reduce monthly Visa bills by X. (I can’t share everything!!)
  • Keep my kids on a budget.

The Hooper Farm Goals:

  • Hire an architect by 2/26/17.
  • Approve drawings / obtain permits.
  • Hire contractor.
  • Start construction by 5/16/17.
  • Plant a real garden.
  • Get two goats by June. (I just learned last night that we are going to have to move out of our house during construction, so the goats might have to wait)

Real Estate Goals:

  • Sales and commissions = X.
  • X number of calls/emails for prospecting per week.
  • Update business plan 6/6/17.
  • Stay out in front in planning and monitoring activity.
  • Complete 2018 business plan by 12/6/17.

My year is off to a great start and I share this with you because it’s never to late to set goals and map out your plan. Note that all of my deadline dates have a 6 in them ~ it’s part of creating the game!

I am on Day 39 of no alcohol and  here is how I do it. I drink lots of probiotic juices and I put them in a wine glass. When I go out for dinner, I order a “mock tail” but it HAS to be in a wine glass. I do the “no alcohol thing ” every year, not because I think I have a drinking problem but because I know I drink too much wine in general. I need to give my body a reprieve, lose a couple pounds and remind myself that I can do it. I am more than half way there and I feel good.

I hope this might inspire you to set some goals for 2017 ~ enjoy the journey, enjoy the ride!
